Kim Katwijk is the Marketing Director for DeckEngineering.com. Kim has been in the construction industry for 37 years, his experience ranging from heavy commercial construction to building log homes, and from supervising a $68 million project to running his own business. For the past 14 years, he has focused on designing and building custom decks through his company, Deck Builders, Inc. of Olympia, Washington. He has created thousands of deck plans. Kim is a member of North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA), was a founder of the organization, and served on the Board of Directors from February 2006 to February 2009.

Kim was selected as one of four deck builders nationwide to be showcased in the 2009 Creative Homeowner's new book "Deck Designs, Great Ideas from Top Deck Designers," which included 30 deck plans and 450 deck photos. He has also been an author and Contributing Editor to Professional Deck Builder Magazine for seven years, and his more than 30 articles have appeared in publications ranging from Professional Deck Builder to Journal of Light Construction. Kim has made a life-long study of marketing, which he has used to successfully promote his company. He is contributing both his marketing expertise and deck building experience to DeckEngineering.com.

Kim has been married for 32 years and is the proud father of nine children, and grandfather to three grandsons and a granddaughter.
